Niner Paint Scheme Contest: Break Out Your Crayons!

Niner Bikes, the company that only makes 29 inch wheeled bicycles, is sponsoring a contest to determine the paint scheme for an upcoming limited edition run of M.C.R. 9s. The contest is open to those who want to submit a design using Niner’s template and will need to feature an IMBA theme and use IMBA’s logo in the scheme somewhere. The winner will win one of the limited edition frame and fork combos and see their artwork painted onto 25 more frames. The winner will be announced on February 29th, 2008.

IMBA is the International Mountain Bike Association. The International Mountain Bicycling Association creates, enhances and preserves trail opportunities for mountain bikers worldwide. Since 1988, IMBA has been bringing out the best in mountain biking by encouraging low-impact riding, volunteer trailwork participation, cooperation among different trail user groups, and innovative trail management solutions. IMBA’s worldwide network includes 32,000 individual members, more than 500 bicycle clubs, and 400 corporate partners and dealer members. (For more information visit http://www.imba.com. )

This contest is an extension of what Niner Bikes wants to do to start “giving back” as a company. This is to be the first of several small commemorative projects done to raise money and awareness for charities selected by Niner Bikes. Here is a bit of the press release that explains further:

Niner will paint 25 frames and matching forks with a very special theme and will sell these very limited edition frames and forks to raise money for the charity of their choice. Their first charity will be IMBA, who has been an amazing ambassador to mountain biking throughout the world.

“For us, IMBA was the obvious first choice for this projectâ€? says Niner co-founder Chris Sugai, “they are the voice of our sport and do an amazing job getting out there to save and build sustainable trails. Their core values represent what Niner is all about.â€?

Steve Domahidy, Niner’s other founder, is elated about the possibilities of this program “We think IMBA is a fantastic organization and we’ve built Niner to the point where we think it’s time to give back. We look forward to doing these limited edition paint schemes for other charities we’re passionate about.â€?
